3 Best Cosmic Reads: For Those Late Nights

Most of the time, you can find us with a book/kindle/tablet in our hand. We love reading, but if you don’t, then we promise these books can spark some deep and forgotten sense of wonder within of you.

Reading can be soothing, enjoyable, and a worthy way to increase your intelligence. Books can be a portal into a different life, world, or galaxy. So, open a page or power up your kindle and let the magic unfold.

Here are Zen’s top 3 favorite books about the universe:

#1 The Field

The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe, by Lynne McTaggart, literally changed my life.

I had just survived my near-death experience (NDE) in 2015 and felt lost. Heavy waves of sadness and then dizzying giddiness flooded me. So, I needed a lifeline, and it showed up in a book.

My excellent friend, Amy, sent me this book, and it changed the course of my life. Overnight, I shifted from a software developer to a wisdom seeker of the universe.

In this book, you’ll learn that light can heal, that mices’ memories are not stored in their brains, and NASA's secret deep space missions found something stranger than fiction. I hope this book transforms your life too!

#2 The Universe in a Nutshell

The first time I read The Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking, I was eleven years old at a used book store. The second time, I found it under my seat at a tech conference.

What can I say—this book likes following me around like a puppy. I’m not complaining because it’s one of my favorites as an introduction to the universe. In this book, you’ll learn everything from black holes to general relativity (gravity).

Hawking was a great science communicator and could break down extremely complex subjects into bite-sized pieces. I recommend this book if you’re interested in learning about the fundamental aspects of our universe.

#3 You Are the Universe

I was lucky to watch Deepak Chopra M.D speak at a San Fransisco conference about his book You Are the Universe: Discovering Your Cosmic Self and Why It Matters.

While he spoke about “the universe within,” I felt something shift inside of me. Deepak radiates healing frequencies, so his words are almost “absorbed” by your higher self (no active listening required).

Scientifically, I knew we were made of cosmic stuff, but seeing Deepak’s passion for the intersection between the universe and our bodies was nothing short of magic. I walked out, feeling fascinated.

As a “thank you,” Deepak gave the book to all the attendees. I read it in one night and now I hope it sparks your fascination with the universe as well!

Happy reading!
